Our Story
Handcrafted Soy Candles, Bath & Body Care from North Port, Florida
At Lolablue®, we believe everyday self-care can be thoughtful, joyful, and personal. Since 2003, we’ve been creating artisan-crafted soy candles, soaps, and bath and body products that bring a little more comfort to your day.
We’re a mom-founded, woman-owned and veteran-owned business based in North Port, Florida. Our small team formulates, handcrafts, packs, and ships our products in-house. From our hands to yours, every order is part of a story built on creativity, community, and care.
Our Story: It Started with Soy Candles
Founder Jamie Lovern started Lolablue in 2003 with a love of candles and a desire to create something of her own. A graduate of Ringling College of Art & Design, Jamie spent 12 years as an award-winning graphic designer before turning her creativity toward candle making.
What began as soy candles for friends and family soon grew into a small business. Jamie designed the packaging and marketing herself, combining her artistic background with hands-on product making. After the birth of her son, she left her corporate career to spend more time with her family and build Lolablue.
DJ Lovern joined the company full-time in 2013 and is now COO and co-owner. A summa cum laude graduate of the University of South Florida with a degree in psychology, DJ brings experience in personal training, counseling, and nutrition to the team.

Made by Our Team, with Purpose
Today, Lolablue is an eight-person team in North Port. We make our products ourselves, giving us a hands-on role in everything from formulation and production to packaging your order.
Our collection has grown from soy candles to soaps, bath, beauty, and wellness essentials. You can find Lolablue products in more than 100 stores, including 38 Whole Foods Market locations in Florida.
Lolablue is certified by the State of Florida as a Woman Business Enterprise (WBE) through its Certified Business Enterprise (CBE) program. We’re proud to build a business that reflects our values and supports our local community.
Thoughtful Choices for People and the Planet
Putting people and the planet first is an ongoing commitment. For us, that means paying attention to the ingredients we choose, the materials we use, and the way we make our products.
We prioritize minimal packaging, recyclable materials, and glass where practical. We work toward reducing waste through mindful sourcing and efficient in-house production, and we continue looking for ways to improve.
Our commitment also extends beyond our products. Giving back and participating in local initiatives are part of what makes Lolablue a community-minded small business.
A Personal Connection to Self-Care
For Jamie, Lolablue’s purpose is deeply personal. Her experience as a trauma survivor helped shape a brand centered on moments of comfort, connection, and mindful living.
“My healing journey led me to create a brand with a deeper purpose. Lolablue was born from a desire to bring light, love, and peace to others and to encourage people to make space for self-care in everyday life.”
— Jamie Lovern, Founder
Rooted in North Port, Supported by Our Community
We’re grateful to the customers and neighbors who have helped Lolablue grow. In 2026, we received the City of North Port Economic Development Division’s GEM Award, recognizing local businesses for their stability, character, and long-term contributions to the city’s economic and cultural life.
Lolablue also won three categories in Best of North Port 2026, continuing a history of Readers’ Choice recognition across categories including scents and lotions, gift shop, and green business. We received the North Port Spirit Award from Triple 3 Marketing in 2022.

Jamie served on the North Port Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors from 2014 to 2020 and spent eight years on The Divas of North Port committee, helping organize an annual Masquerade Ball benefiting local charities.
Along the way, our products appeared in the 2013 MTV Movie Awards swag bags and 2009 pre-Oscar party swag bags in Beverly Hills. Lolablue was also a 2013 Martha Stewart American Made Product Contest nominee.

What Does Lolablue Mean?
“Lola” was a nickname Jamie’s friend Pete gave her, inspired by her love of Barry Manilow and ’70s music. “Blue” is a nod to our home, the Blue Planet, and our commitment to treating it with care.
A customer once told us that Lola could stand for “Love one. Love all.” We couldn’t think of a better fit.
Thank you for supporting our small business and making Lolablue part of your self-care rituals.
